New temporary outdoor sculpture garden at Herengracht 516 in collaboration with Seable&Co
We are thrilled to mark the opening of our new temporary outdoor sculpture garden at Herengracht 516, and the beginning of our collaboration with Seable&Co, a Dutch company specialising in bespoke exterior spaces for yachts.
The project grew out of ongoing conversations with architects, designers and collectors about how the experience of contemporary art can extend beyond the interior, into gardens and life by the water.
For this first outdoor presentation, Mia Karlova Galerie brings together works that ask the viewer to slow down before they reveal themselves. They do not compete for attention. They create a quieter state of observation, where the garden, the body and the work begin to respond to one another. Here, nature is no longer a view, but something that returns through memory, material, reflection and time.
Together, works by Mathias Kiss, Moon Seop Seo, Olga Malygina, Jesse Visser and Pepe Valenti create a quiet intensity throughout the garden. They invite the viewer to slow down, look again, and rediscover nature not as scenery, but as something felt through the body, the senses, and the imagination.
This first presentation marks the beginning of a new direction for the gallery: a growing outdoor collection of contemporary art, collectible design and functional sculpture becomes part of the outdoor experience.
The outdoor gallery at Herengracht 516 is currently open by appointment, with its public opening during GLUE Amsterdam, 17-19 September.
