With Liquid Mirror, Mathias Kiss subjects the mirror, traditionally a device of power and control over the gaze, to a process of formal liquefaction, dissolving its frame and geometry until the surface seems to yield to an internal force. No longer offering a stable reflection, the fragmented image turns a tool of narcissism into an experience of losing one's bearings. Balancing artisanal precision with the illusion of collapse, the work becomes a threshold between stability and instability, melting not just the mirror, but the framework of representation itself.
