VALERY PCHELIN
Valery Pchelin developed his sculptural practice from a background as a carpenter. Carefully combining diverse wooden elements, he creates sculptures through an authentic making process using traditional tools. For the sculptor, these works possess a visual language that cannot be captured by other art forms. His series Drifters exemplifies this approach: each personalised figure exists in a state of constant motion, embodying an existential condition of conflict in which humanity, like these figures, is engaged in an endless search without a fixed destination. International presentations at Mia Karlova Galerie and inclusion in collections such as the State Russian Museum demonstrate the global recognition of his oeuvre.
