With Steel Grass, Aérosculpture has created a field that makes the invisible visible. Hundreds of slender steel strands stand still until the wind moves through them, and the air itself becomes a shape the eye can follow. There is no program, no repeated sequence, only weather, translated into motion. In stillness the strands hold as a single silver plane; in motion they scatter and blur, closer to water than to metal. Steel Grass does not depict the wind. It gives it a place to become visible, so that what usually passes unseen is something we can stand in front of and watch.
