Teun Zwets
Overview
Teun Zwets reuses a variety of leftover materials to create one-off functional sculptures. His practice is very intuitive and material driven. Instead of embracing conceptual design, his objects celebrate practicality.
Characterised by a sense of rapidity that allows him to stay focused, most of Teun’s pieces are made in less than a day – from their inception to their final form. A vast variety of materials are glued, screwed or tied together to build sculptural items that are needed.
Teun’s Beam sideboard was specially designed for the gallery and constructed with his neighbours' old wooden floor. His ingenious process has turned disparate salvaged fragments into a collectible design piece boasting a fascinating, tactile facade meant to be contemplated.
Teun graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2020.
