Netherlands based Japanese designer Sho Ota known for his multi-layered, sculptural designs. Subterranean coffee table is made of old and new oak. The collection stemmed from a desire to reveal the structures beneath industrial surfaces. He shows the beauty of the natural wood with all its imperfection by displaying the structure of wood to the viewers, leaving nothing hidden. Ota reimagines a common piece of furniture into a functional sculpture deserving of admiration and attention.
